popular Catholicism

popular Catholicism
This term refers to the religious sense of devout Catholics that finds expression not only in the liturgybut also in a variety of religious practices, such as the rosary, novenas, processions, pilgrimages, altarcitos (home altars), theWay of the Cross, and so on. Such religious expressions of popular Catholicism or popular piety should be considered complementary to the Church's official liturgy.
